Mayakovskiy, eh :) His poetry is something indescribable. It's crude, broken, and at the same time uncompromising, inspiring. Its not beautiful as a music or a woman. Its "handsome" as a rugged, hard, plain-speaking man.
I love many of his works. But its all almost exclusively for men. :) Women dont like his poetry usually.

| sure, it was misfortunes in love or realistic exposure condition, but there's also big spirit that seemed very personal--his words are rich with color, memory, and substance without even forgetting his "rough breathing", energy, courage (good or bad). i think he was like robert lowell/sylvia plath in russian lit. |
| Hm.. now looking back at some comments here (mostly at yours, Rieke :) ) I guess there's still a misundertanding. Mayakovsky wasnt suicidal, certainly not in the way young people are nowadays. And he wasnt romantic.His suicide was an act of an adult, left in this life without anything but great burden. Please, dont idolize him. :) He wouldnt want it. ;)
P.S. And certainly there can be no comparison with Cobain or Morrison. :) |
