for everyone

.

past one o’clock. you’re probably in bed
the milky way streams like the silver oka
i won’t send wild telegrams. i don’t intend
to trouble you and vex you any longer
and now, as people say, our case is closed
the boat of love could not endure the grind
we’re even now. and there is no remorse
let’s not bring up the sorrows left behind
behold what hush has fallen on the ground
the starry night is grandiose and spacious
at times as these, you rise and speak aloud
to ages, histories and all creation

vladimir mayakovsky 1930

i guess opening up your heart
and picking up the pieces
deep deep deep inside
becoming passionately one
with sadness and life itself
is suicidal in some ways.

my modern day suicidal poets? kurt cobain n jim morrison.

hahaha, some says kurt cobain was the hero for the 90s.

anyway, your selection of hero sometimes shows your age.
dear waraney, how old are you by the way? :D

ah ah ah, i'm old enough to be your cool senior hehehe...but young enough to be desperately suicidal :)

suicidal poets..their spirits inspire me so much. what matters is that their poems take me nearer to myself.

hmm, kurt cobain. suicidal hero, eh? ;))

that's why i heart mayakovsky, mate. he's brave enough to kill himself. be a man and put a gun in your mouth.

cobain was too sick to be cool. thats the greatest irony of this suicidal poets... :) just like the way we idolize chairil anwar today, with his iconic pictures and fiery poems...

kenapa jg penulis puisi mesti sentimental sampe bunuh diri segala...
meeen...
*sok2 ga sentimental

mungkin karena most of them live in their quiet life aja, banyak tekanan di kepala sementara mereka juga harus tetap keep up with the normal life and normal people yang tidak seperti mereka. banyak kok yang end up-nya memang bunuh diri.

I thought you’d be interested in the website for a new novel Reconstructing Mayakovsky. The site, http://www.reconstructingmayakovsky.com
is inventive and interactive. Like the novel, it combines elements of science fiction (the man did ask to be resurrected in the future,) poetry, the detective story and historical fiction to tell the story of Mayakovsky in a radically different way.
If you enjoy it, I hope you’ll share it with your friends or on your blog. Thanks.

Mayakovskiy, eh :) His poetry is something indescribable. It's crude, broken, and at the same time uncompromising, inspiring. Its not beautiful as a music or a woman. Its "handsome" as a rugged, hard, plain-speaking man.
I love many of his works. But its all almost exclusively for men. :) Women dont like his poetry usually.

mayakovsky's very very amazing. i really like his works, and there's no denying that he is a true poet . one thing for sure, who doesn't love his spirit of love and humanity?

his spirit of love and humanity
hehe .. exactly these things are rarely expressed by his poetry. :)
he's very cynical in fact. love is something he cant accept actually, almost despises it. :)
dont forget he's a child of a soviet russia at its fullest.

Oh and forgive me if it seems as if I've taken an instructive or condescending tone. Didnt mean to do that. :)

sure, it was misfortunes in love or realistic exposure condition, but there's also big spirit that seemed very personal--his words are rich with color, memory, and substance without even forgetting his "rough breathing", energy, courage (good or bad). i think he was like robert lowell/sylvia plath in russian lit.

Hm.. now looking back at some comments here (mostly at yours, Rieke :) ) I guess there's still a misundertanding. Mayakovsky wasnt suicidal, certainly not in the way young people are nowadays. And he wasnt romantic. His suicide was an act of an adult, left in this life without anything but great burden. Please, dont idolize him. :) He wouldnt want it. ;)

P.S. And certainly there can be no comparison with Cobain or Morrison. :)
